Linda Mitcham
6/7 ELA Teacher

I was born and raised in Coeur d’ Alene.  It wasn’t until I had my children and became involved in their education that I realized that learning and teaching was my passion.  I have 3 grown children, but I was involved closely in their education all through their school experiences.  I always worked at the Christian schools they attended and grew to love not only teaching academics but teaching God’s Word.  While I was working in their Christian school, I decided to go back to school to pursue full-time teaching.  I attended North Idaho College and then the University of Idaho in the elementary program.  I began teaching fulltime at North Idaho Christian School when my youngest child was in 7th grade.  I taught 6th grade there for 20 years (1993 – 2013), and then taught 4th grade one year at Classical Christian Academy.  I went through the training for classical teaching but decided to retire from classroom teaching the next year.  But, because I love teaching, I started the Old Schoolhouse tutoring service in 2014, and have been doing private tutoring for grades 1-10 since then.  I also was privileged to work part-time for part of the year at Berean Academy last year.  The small classroom environment fits me perfectly.

I have been a Christian for 47 years, and in that time I have been involved in learning and teaching God’s Word to both children and women.  I have researched, written, and taught numerous expositional studies of Old and New Testament books for women’s Bible studies. Though I have always been active in the local church teaching the Bible, for the last 18 years I have attended Real Life Ministries.  I am the director of a women’s Bible study with 10 small group leaders under my leadership.  My love for God’s Word grows every time I teach it.  I am convinced that due to the challenges we face in this time of history, the necessity to teach God’s Word to children and adults becomes more critical.  I am grateful to be working at Berean where their goal is accurate Biblical literacy that will transform the lives of the children who attend there.
